KXpress removes limescale from your fresh water system—tank, pipes, faucets, and water heater—and eliminates musty odors at the same time. The 250-ml concentrate, made with natural citric acid, yields about 20 liters of descaling solution and is therefore sufficient for fresh water tanks up to approximately 160 liters.
Which product do you need?
- KXpress Descaler (this product) – for limescale: white deposits, clogged strainers and faucets, slow-heating water heaters.
- DEXDA Clean – for biofilm and germs: Disinfection with chlorine dioxide. This is different from descaling.
- Hygiene Trio Complete Set – if you want both plus ongoing silver preservation in one package.
- Solbio Descaler – the affordable alternative made from citric and malic acid for tanks up to about 200 liters.
In short: Get rid of limescale with KXpress, get rid of germs with DEXDA Clean. If you want to give the system a thorough cleaning, do both—according to the manufacturer, the two cleaners can be combined so that descaling and disinfection happen in a single step.
What it’s used for
- Fresh water tanks, pipes, faucets, and water heaters in RVs, camper vans, trailers, and boats
- At the start of the season after the winter break and before winter storage
- When the water smells strange or the flow rate decreases
- Also for household use: coffee makers, kettles, soda makers, and beverage dispensers
Here’s how to use it
Mix the concentrate with water—the 250 ml makes about 20 liters of solution—pour it into the system, let it sit, and then rinse thoroughly. Dosage and contact time are listed on the bottle; you can download the safety data sheet directly here. Citric acid is compatible with standard tank and pipe materials; however, be sure to protect your eyes, as the concentrate is irritating.
To keep the clean tank clean, it’s worth using a silver preservation treatment or a UV disinfection unit afterward—you’ll find both in our product lineup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Descaling or disinfecting—which comes first?
The two go hand in hand. Limescale provides a surface for the biofilm to adhere to, so it makes sense to descale before or at the same time as disinfecting. According to the manufacturer, you can use KXpress and DEXDA Clean in the same cycle.
Will the acid damage my tank or the seals?
Citric acid is compatible with standard tank and pipe materials—which is why it’s used in drinking water systems in the first place. Stick to the specified dosage and contact time, and rinse thoroughly afterward.
My tank is larger than 160 liters—is one bottle enough?
In that case, use a corresponding amount. The specification refers to the volume of solution produced from one bottle.
Can I drink the water again afterward?
Yes, after rinsing thoroughly. Citric acid is a food-grade acid; no harmful residues remain.
How often should I descale?
Depending on the water hardness, once or twice per season. If you use hard water, it’s best to do it more often.
