DEXDA Clean is the deep cleaner for your water system: a two-component chlorine dioxide solution that removes biofilm, bacteria, algae, and Legionella from your tank and pipes—and gets rid of musty odors at the same time. The 250-ml bottle is enough for a fresh water tank holding up to about 160 liters, which is suitable for the vast majority of RVs and camper vans.
Which version do you need?
- DEXDA Clean 250 ml (this item) – for tanks up to approx. 160 liters.
- DEXDA Clean 100 ml – for smaller tanks up to approx. 60 liters, e.g., in a camper van or trailer.
- Hygiene Trio Complete Set – if you want cleaning and ongoing preservation: DEXDA Clean combined with the KXpro silver preservation system.
Important to understand: DEXDA Clean cleans and disinfects an existing system. It does not keep the water permanently germ-free afterward—that’s what the silver preservation or a UV disinfection unit is for. The usual approach is: clean it thoroughly once, then preserve it.
What it’s used for
- Fresh water tanks and lines in RVs, camper vans, trailers, and boats
- At the start of the season after the winter break and before winter storage
- After buying a vehicle—you never know what’s been growing in the previous owner’s tank
- If the water or tank smells, feels slimy, or shows signs of buildup
- Also for kettles, coffee makers, and beverage dispensers
Here’s how to proceed
Combine the two components; they activate each other—after about three hours, the solution is ready for use and can be added to the water system. Chlorine dioxide is pH-neutral and safe for materials, so you don’t need to rinse multiple times. For dosing and contact time, follow the enclosed instructions and the safety data sheets, which you can download directly here.
After cleaning, it’s worth considering a long-term solution: a silver-based preservative keeps the clean tank clean, and a UV disinfection unit automatically disinfects the water as it’s dispensed. You’ll find both in our product lineup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my water be safe to drink again afterward?
Yes—chlorine dioxide is an active ingredient approved for drinking water treatment (BAuA registration N-69077). After use, the system is flushed as described in the instructions.
How is this different from a tank cleaner from a home improvement store?
Most products work with active oxygen. According to the manufacturer, chlorine dioxide attacks the biofilm much more effectively—and the biofilm is exactly what usually persists and repeatedly contaminates the water.
Does it damage the tank, seals, or lines?
No, the solution is pH-neutral and safe for materials.
How often should I do this?
As a deep clean, at least at the start of the season, and ideally also before winterization. If you also preserve the tank, you’ll need to deep clean it less often.
Can I save the activated solution?
To a limited extent—it remains active for up to 3 months if stored in a cool, dark place. Unactivated, it lasts 3 years.
