75-liter compressor-cooled refrigerator with freezer compartment, 12/24 V—the classic panel van size from the WAECO WCR series and the obvious choice for a full kitchenette conversion.
What size do you need?
We offer the WCR series in four sizes. The 75-liter WCR 80 provides enough space for two to three people on longer trips without having to sacrifice half your kitchen. Smaller options include the WCR 60 (55 L) and the WCR 50 (44 L), while the WCR 150 (153 L) offers more space in a slim, tower-style design.
Compared to the Dometic CoolMatic NRX series, the WCR line offers the best value for the money: same basic concept, fewer electronic features, and significantly lower price. If you want a frameless door, a 3-in-1 cooling solution, and Eco/Boost/Silent modes, check out the NRX 80C.
What it’s designed for
Compressor technology cools regardless of the outside temperature or the vehicle’s angle—unlike an absorption refrigerator, which must be kept level and loses performance in hot weather. No gas is needed on board, and there’s no need to cut external ventilation grilles into the vehicle body. That’s exactly why it’s usually the simpler solution for DIY installation.
The compressor operates in two modes: “Power” for rapid cooling and “Quiet” for nighttime use. You can switch between modes using the control panel inside the vehicle.
Installation
Can be used freestanding or built into cabinetry; a mounting frame is available as an option. At 47.5 cm wide and 63.5 cm high, it fits under most countertops. The door hinge direction is reversible—decide before building your cabinet whether the door should open to the left or right. The matte black door panel is replaceable.
The door lock has a dual function: during the off-season, you can use it to keep the door slightly ajar, allowing the interior to remain ventilated.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I leave it running while driving?
Yes. It runs on 12 V or 24 V and is designed for use in a moving vehicle.
Does it require a ventilation grille in the vehicle wall?
No, unlike an absorption refrigerator, it does not. However, it does require air circulation around the cooling unit—be sure to allow for intake and exhaust air in the cabinet design.
How much power does it consume?
0.36 kWh in 24 hours according to the standard. Converted to 12 V, that’s about 30 Ah per day or roughly 1.25 Ah per hour on average. Less in quiet mode, more in high heat.
Does it run on 230 V?
Not directly—it’s a 12/24-V unit. You’ll need a power adapter for shore power.
Can I have the door hinge on the left?
Yes, the door hinge can be reversed.
