The mid-size model in the WAECO WCR series: 55-liter compressor-based refrigerator with freezer compartment, 12/24 V—the ideal compromise for two people who are on the road for extended periods but can’t fit a tower-style refrigerator into their cabinetry.
What size do you need?
We offer the WCR series in four sizes. The WCR 60, with a capacity of 55 liters, is the mid-range model; it’s about 7 cm wider than the WCR 50, despite being the same height. If you need less capacity, go for the WCR 50 with 44 liters. If you need more, there’s the WCR 80 with 75 liters and the WCR 150 with 153 liters in a slim tower design.
Compared to the Dometic CoolMatic NRX series, the WCR line offers the best value for the money: same basic concept, fewer electronic features, and significantly lower price. If you want a frameless door, a 3-in-1 cooling solution, and Eco/Boost/Silent modes, the NRX is the better choice.
What it’s designed for
Compressor technology means it cools regardless of the outside temperature and whether your vehicle is tilted—unlike an absorption refrigerator, which must be kept level and loses performance in hot weather. No gas on board, no external ventilation grilles in the vehicle body required. When installing it yourself, this is almost always the simpler solution.
The compressor has two modes: “Power” for rapid cooling and “Quiet” for nighttime use. Settings are adjusted via the control panel inside the vehicle.
Installation
Can be used freestanding or built into cabinetry; a mounting frame is available as an option. The door hinge direction is reversible—decide before building your cabinetry whether the door should open to the left or right. The matte black door trim can be replaced to match your interior decor.
The door lock has a dual function: during the off-season, you can use it to keep the door slightly ajar, allowing the interior to remain ventilated.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it called the WCR 60, but has a capacity of 55 liters?
The number in the model name refers to the unit size, not the capacity in liters. According to the manufacturer, the actual usable capacity is 55 liters.
Can I run it while driving?
Yes. It runs on 12 V or 24 V and is designed for operation in a moving vehicle.
Does it require a ventilation grille in the vehicle wall?
No, unlike an absorption refrigerator, it does not. However, it does need air circulation around the cooling unit—be sure to allow for intake and exhaust air in the cabinet design.
How much power does it draw?
0.33 kWh in 24 hours according to the standard. Converted to 12 V, that’s about 28 Ah per day, or a good 1 Ah per hour on average.
Does it run on 230 V?
Not directly; it’s a 12/24-V unit. You’ll need a power adapter for shore power.
Can I have the door hinged on the left?
Yes, the door hinge can be reversed.
