The Pro'sKit PK-918F is the complete soldering kit for automotive repairs and the workshop: a temperature-controlled soldering iron with a ceramic heating element ranging from 250 to 500 °C, plus a desoldering pump, a tray with a sponge, solder, soldering flux, tweezers, and five soldering tips—eleven parts in one set, so you don’t have to hunt for individual items.

What soldering tool do you need?
The PK-918F is the complete kit for anyone just getting started or who wants a second, full set for their vehicle—including the five tip shapes that let you handle everything from fine circuit board solder joints to thick stranded wire.

When working on your camper, you’ll need the soldering iron wherever crimping isn’t enough: tinning the ends of stranded wires so they don’t fray in the terminal, connecting LED strips to power lines, extending sensor and signal cables, soldering connector pins to switches, USB jacks, and voltmeters, and repairing defective circuit boards and lighting modules. The desoldering pump removes old solder from the joint if you’ve made a mistake or are replacing a component.

Temperature and tips. The ceramic heating element heats up quickly and maintains the set temperature. The range from 250 to 500 °C covers both extremes: low temperatures for sensitive components and delicate solder joints, and high temperatures when heat dissipates into thick wire or a large ground plane. The set includes five tip shapes (types K, I, 3C, 4C, and 2.4D)—ranging from a pencil-tip for individual pins to a wide chisel tip that delivers enough heat to large solder joints.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tip should I use for what?
Rule of thumb: the larger the solder joint, the wider the tip. Fine pencil and needle shapes for individual pins and tight component spacing; chisel and bevel shapes (3C, 4C, 2.4D) for wire strands, connector pins, and anything that requires a lot of heat to be applied quickly. Using a tip that’s too small on a large solder joint is the most common cause of cold solder joints.

Why 30 W when it says 60 W on the label?
The heating element operates continuously at around 30 W and briefly draws up to 60 W when it needs to reheat—for example, immediately after being turned on or when a large solder joint draws heat away. This is normal for regulated heating elements and says nothing about their performance in everyday use.

What exactly is the desoldering pump for?
You heat the old solder joint with the iron until the solder is liquid, position the primed pump over it, and trigger it—the solder is sucked out. This allows you to remove components without damaging the circuit trace.
