The Opinel N°08 Champignon is a folding knife designed specifically for mushroom hunting. The curved blade cuts the mushroom cleanly at the stem, the serrated back of the blade serves as a scraper, and the natural bristle brush at the end of the handle brushes away dirt and pine needles right there in the woods.
Here’s how to use it:
- Cut the mushroom off at the stem with the curved blade instead of pulling it out
- Use the serrated back of the blade to scrape soil and debris off the stem
- Brush off the cap and gills with the brush at the end of the handle
- Fold the blade and secure it with the Virobloc ring
Technical Specifications:
- Blade length: 8 cm, curved cutting edge with serrated back
- Blade material: stainless martensitic steel (Sandvik 12C27), hardness 55–57 HRC
- Handle: beech wood, length 10.9 cm
- Brush: Natural bristles at the end of the handle
- Locking mechanism: Virobloc safety ring—locks the blade in both the open and closed positions
- Manufacturer’s part number: 001252
- EAN: 3123840012525
- Made in France
Care: The blade is rust-resistant, but the beech wood is not. Wash the knife by hand, dry it afterward, and do not store it while damp—do not put it in the dishwasher. If the wood swells slightly when wet, the blade may be slightly harder to open for a short time; once dry, it will function normally again.
A compact companion for your van, backpack, or jacket pocket—perfect for mushroom hunting in the fall, or as a handy pocket knife for on the go.
