The CampingStar water heating element heats your domestic water directly in the canister. Simply place it flat on the bottom of the canister, connect it to a 12-volt power source—the built-in thermostat brings the water up to about 38 °C and maintains that temperature. With a canister capacity of about 10–15 liters, this provides you with comfortably warm water for washing, without the need for a boiler or permanent installation.
This model is the 12-volt version with 100 watts and has two open cable ends. So you connect them yourself to your vehicle’s electrical system—brown is positive, blue is negative.
Use in a camper
- Hot Water in Camper Vans and Conversions with Canister Water Supply
- Water for washing dishes, handwashing, or an outdoor shower
- Retrofit solution without drilling, cutting, or tank modification—the heating element remains portable and can be removed from the canister at any time
Connection and Fuse Protection
- Suitable only for 12 V DC
- Current draw approx. 8 A – select wire gauge and fuse accordingly
- Use only 12-volt plugs with screw terminals and a minimum rating of 10 A
- The cable ends are crimped or screwed, not soldered
- Due to power consumption, it is best to operate the unit while driving or, when stationary, to use a sufficiently sized auxiliary battery to provide backup power
Here’s how to proceed
- Fill the canister with water—warm water significantly reduces the heating time
- Place the heating element flat on the bottom of the container; do not stand it upright
- Only then connect the power supply
- Remove limescale deposits regularly—always disconnect the power supply first
Safety Instructions
- The heating element must always be completely covered with water; otherwise, the thermostat will not work
- Position the water intake (pump or suction hose) at least 10 cm above the heating element
- Do not remove the white Teflon ring

Frequently Asked Questions
How hot does the water get?
The control thermostat maintains the water at around 38 °C. This is washing temperature, not boiling water.
Does the heating element fit in any canister?
With a diameter of 1.2 cm and a length of 26 cm, it fits through most wide-mouth openings. It’s important that it can lie flat on the bottom and be completely covered with water.
Do I need a plug?
This model has two open cable ends. You can connect them directly to your 12-V vehicle electrical system or install your own plug with a screw terminal rated for at least 10 A.
Can I leave the heating element in the canister permanently?
Yes, it’s designed for use inside the canister. Remove it for descaling and cleaning, and always disconnect the power first.
How long does it take to heat up?
That depends on the starting temperature and the amount of water in the container. If you fill it with water that’s already warm, the target temperature will be reached much faster.
